Turning AfroMaya's Cultural Vision into a 500+ Person Event Experience
Nuru Digital worked as AfroMaya's strategic creative partner to turn an ambitious cultural exhibition into a cohesive, audience-ready brand experience — extending the identity across social media, bilingual promotional materials, large-format print, venue screens and event-day content, helping welcome more than 500 attendees and over 50 vendors in Dubai.

Inside the work

The Challenge
AfroMaya was created to give African culture, creativity and enterprise a visible stage in the UAE. The 2026 African Cultural Exhibition brought that vision to life through fashion, art, music, literature, business panels, masterclasses, a vendor marketplace and live entertainment.
The opportunity was substantial, but so was the creative challenge. AfroMaya already had a logo, core design elements and a strong concept. What it needed was a complete event-facing visual system capable of carrying one recognisable identity across very different formats — from Instagram posts and Arabic promotional materials to a five-metre photography backdrop and a full programme of digital screen slides.
The programme also continued to evolve as performers, designers, partners and event segments were confirmed. Every new asset needed to feel like part of the same AfroMaya world while remaining clear, culturally respectful and practical for its channel. Social content had to attract attention quickly. Venue screens had to guide guests from a distance. Print artwork had to withstand large-format production. Artist imagery and partner logos had to remain polished and recognisable throughout.
Our Approach
We approached AfroMaya as an integrated event brand rather than a collection of individual posters. The concept note became our strategic foundation: Africa is not a single story, and the exhibition should celebrate the continent through its people, traditions, creativity, businesses and enduring spirit.
From there, we extended the supplied identity into a flexible campaign system. Rich olive, gold, cream and black tones created a premium visual base, while African-inspired patterns, cultural details and expressive imagery brought movement and character to the work. The result was a visual language that could move between celebratory, editorial and informational content without losing brand recognition.
What we delivered:
- A main event key visual establishing the creative direction for the campaign
- Promotional artwork for the model casting call, featured programming and Ikom Boy's album release party
- English and Arabic event posters designed for a broader UAE audience
- Social media assets supporting event awareness and programme announcements
- A complete venue-screen presentation covering the main event programme, performers, cultural moments, fashion show and closing announcements
- Custom artist compositions that removed distracting backgrounds and blended performers naturally into the AfroMaya visual environment
- A strategic-partners screen recognising participating organisations with clear, correctly presented logos
- A 5 m × 2.3 m photography backdrop featuring AfroMaya and AfroParadise branding, an African flag border and a premium step-and-repeat layout
- High-resolution PNG and print-ready PDF artwork for production
- An announcement creative for the upcoming UAE Africa Market, Ras Al Khaimah, extending the event story beyond the day itself
The work developed through close iteration with the AfroMaya team. As the agenda changed, new contributors joined and practical production needs became clearer, we refined each asset while protecting the overall system. This allowed the campaign to stay responsive without becoming visually fragmented.
The Results
The AfroMaya African Cultural Exhibition brought more than 500 people together at Conrad Dubai — exceeding the original 350-person attendance target by at least 43%. More than 50 vendors and exhibitors took part, surpassing the initial concept of a 35+ business marketplace.
Across the day, guests experienced African fashion, live art, music, literature, cultural conversations, beauty and fragrance masterclasses, business panels, an album release performance, shopping and networking. The event created a space where African communities, UAE residents, creatives, entrepreneurs and friends of Africa could meet, celebrate and build new connections.
What the project achieved:
- Built a consistent AfroMaya presence across social media, print and the physical venue
- Translated the event's cultural purpose into an experience that felt celebratory, premium and distinctly African
- Supported a programme with multiple speakers, performers, artists, designers, partners and audience segments without losing visual cohesion
- Made core event communication accessible in both English and Arabic
- Gave attendees a polished on-site journey through branded programme screens and clear event announcements
- Created a highly visible photography environment that kept AfroMaya and AfroParadise present in guest-generated event imagery
- Gave partner organisations and participating talent professional recognition within the event experience
- Established a reusable creative foundation for future AfroMaya exhibitions and related cultural initiatives
For Nuru Digital, the project also marked our first time exhibiting publicly as a brand. We moved from working behind the scenes to standing alongside the community we had helped bring to life — an important milestone that strengthened our position as a creative partner for ambitious cultural events, brands and organisations in the UAE.
AfroMaya demonstrated what is possible when cultural purpose is supported by disciplined creative execution: a strong idea became a coherent campaign, a welcoming physical experience and a successful platform for connection, visibility and opportunity.
